        Morning Star

The Morning Star Hotel is no longer a hotel but the building is now a house and still stands at Old Melbourne Road Bungaree. It was actually destroyed three times!

The first owner of the Morning Star Hotel

John Callinan was granted his licence, but died soon after. The hotel was taken over by his daughter Bridget Callinan on the 16th of the 4th 1885. On the 9th of December, 1890, Robert McClymont took over. The butcher's shop was next to the Morning Star Hotel. The Morning Star was burned down and was later rebuilt in weatherboard.
Mrs Devereux remembers the Morning Star as she worked there. Click the play button below to hear an interview with Mrs Devereux about her memories of the Morning Star Hotel.

The Morning Star used to take in boarders who worked in the local farms.
