The Bungaree Shops
by Tahlia Grigg
The town of Bungaree has always had a store. Once it had five stores: two general stores (which people called the top and the bottom shops), a butcher, a lolly and ice cream shop, and another store called Chalmer's (which later became Rice's).
The Top Shop was also a post office and it used to deliver the mail.
Frank Hanrahan remembers that both the Bungaree shops had delivery vans to deliver groceries to people living in the surrounding areas. People phoned their orders through, and the workers at the shop packed their orders into boxes and delivered them in vans.
