The Station Closes.
The railway station wasn’t used much so it closed to passengers on 4th October 1981. The station was closed completely and the building was no longer used from 1985.

  Permission was given to the Train Preservation  Society to restore the building the day after the station building was demolished in 1987. 

The tramways group now use the last remaining house for overnight stays and have built two large sheds to store old trams that will be restored one day.
