The Fire at Mount Warrenheip
By Bronte

On the 14th of February, 2013, there was a fire at Mount Warrenheip because lightning hit the ground and caused a huge fire all over the mountain. Some people got told to evacuate their houses.

It was the biggest fire I have seen before. It was very scary. We went for a drive to have a look how big the fire was. We got on the CFA website to see if it was under control but it wasn’t and then we all came home to watch it.

A big helicopter flew past and mum and dad were pointing to a man’s dam over behind Mount Warrenheip. The pilot went there and got some water from the dam.

We sat outside all day and then we saw all the fire glowing at night. It looked really cool, but then it started flaming up again. It looked cool but scary, and we all sat outside and watch it flame up. We went inside and came back out because we wanted to watch it and we could not sleep.

They had all the roads closed off because people were trying to have a look and see how much was burnt.

We waved to fire trucks, police and paramedics who came past our house. They waved back and tooted.

It was an exciting but scary day.
