The Police Station is Destroyed.

Picture
A truck destroys the Bungaree Police Station.

In 1976 a semi-trailer crashed into the police station and damaged the entire station. Seven people had serious injuries and one person died.

Messrs Lawless and Hanrahan recall the story that a person was trapped inside the building. The door to their room was blocked. So a man cut a hole in a wall with a chainsaw to make an opening. He just missed cutting into the person inside.

And after that they knocked the police station down. The policeman was temporarily moved over the road into the Lolly Shop. Later the service was disbanded and Bungaree no longer had a police presence.

In 2015, the senior students and Calvin Tromp wrote up an account of the accident with information gathered from newspaper articles. This included an article about the coroner's report. Below is how we think events took place.
